Black Monk Rosary - Strong Unbreakable Paracord Rosary

I was very happy to receive the Black Monk Rosary from Rugged Rosaries — it’s the second Rosary I’ve purchased from them, and once again, I was impressed with the high-quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Both Rosaries I’ve ordered from Rugged Rosaries have been very well made with attention to detail, so I want to commend the team for consistently excellent workmanship.

The Black Monk Rosary is visually stunning — the all-black aesthetic gives it a bold, prayerful presence. It's generously sized, which I love, and yet light enough to wear around my neck under a shirt or carry comfortably in hand when walking. The large beads make praying the Rosary a very tactile experience, which helps keep my heart and mind focused during prayer. The crucifix is beautifully crafted and visually distinctive, adding a reverent touch to the overall look.

That said, there are a few areas where I think the Rosary could be improved. The Hail Mary beads are acrylic and the Our Father beads seem to be plastic — they don’t quite match the "rugged" and “indestructible” feel I was hoping for. Also, both bead types are the same size; slightly larger Our Father beads would make it easier to distinguish them during prayer, especially with eyes closed. The crucifix, while beautiful, doesn’t appear to be made of metal like stainless steel — a metal crucifix would elevate the sense of durability and sacred weight.

While I appreciate the lightweight design (and I know others would too), for me personally, there’s a bit of a mismatch between the look of the Rosary and the feel of it. It looks powerful and battle-ready, but in hand, it feels a little light and less “indestructible” than expected. This became more noticeable when the Black Monk Rosary arrived alongside another paracord rosary I ordered from a Sydney-based maker. That second rosary featured all stainless steel Hail Mary beads, crusader Our Father beads, and a steel crucifix — it was considerably heavier, and though less wearable around the neck, it truly felt like a spiritual weapon.

That brings me to my final (and hopeful) suggestion: I would love to see Rugged Rosaries offer a premium version of the Black Monk Rosary — same stunning design, but with stainless steel beads and a solid metal crucifix. I know this would raise the cost, but I’d gladly pay more for that version — and I believe many others would too.

Overall, this is a powerful and beautiful Rosary, and I’m grateful to have it. With a few upgrades, I truly believe the Black Monk Rosary could become a flagship piece for those seeking both beauty and indestructibility in their daily spiritual armour.

I have purchased several rugged rosaries for myself and friends, primarily for altar boys and young men within our parish. These rosaries are designed to withstand heavy use and are constructed to be nearly bulletproof. I often enhance the durability of these rosaries by securely attaching a few medals of saints, such as the Miraculous Metal, Saint Joseph, and Saint Jude. These medals are renowned for their exceptional longevity.

This was my first purchase of a Rugged Rosary and I am happy and satisfied with the purchase. I will definitely recommend RR products. I especially like that the crucifix is metal and not plastic.

Not disappointed: built to last

The Rosary is well made and delivery was as expected. The crucifix is larger than I thought with good detail and craftsmanship. It is the nicest I have seen on a Rosary. This is a gift for a brother in Christ who has suffered much and yet his faith is unwavering. I am sure he will use it for many years. Thank you and may God bless you all.
